For my fellow Canucks: I noticed in this morning's Canadian Tire flyer that tomorrow they will have this inspection camera: http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/maste ... pYNMcRDuTE on sale for $90.00. The regular price is $250.00. Seems like a good price for what could be a handy tool.

Pat, that does look like a good deal. Robbie O'brien has a Luthier du Jour vid about using a cheap computer camera (if they can still be had in this day of built in computer cameras), and he puts it in the soundhole with a light. I haven't tried it but it looked like it worked great.

I just use my iphone... put the phone inside with the flash on and take random blind pictures... kinda clunky but it works. Now if I can find an app that allows me to display the iphone camera output on my computer so I can go exploring inside the guitar...

I really hope you didn't buy the iphone and ipad solely for guitar inspection work... it's useful on so many levels. I have a Peterson's Strobe tuner app, it works real well. It would be nice if I could plug it in so I can tune solid body guitars.

Yeah, I know I should just leave my old clunker MacBook Pro (long since replaced as my primary laptop) booted up in Windows so I can run VA all the time without hassle, but it just seems so ... wrong.

My room mate in college used to take his hamburgers apart to eat each piece separately. :?

Great find Pat! Looks like I'm heading to one of my favourite stores first thing in the morning. :) And for all our 'Merican friends to the south, if you haven't been to a Canadian Tire store, you're really missing out on a truly Canadian male shopping tradition - the weekly trip (or sometimes daily) to Canadian Tire.....

I use this from harbor freight. Got it for $69 with a coupon from their ad. It also has a video out port so you ca hook it to a tv or monitor. Previous to that I used a small USB web cam i got off ebay with my laptop...Mike

Pat - I went into Canadian Tire this morning at 8:45am and picked the last one off of the shelf - boy they went quick! I've tried it on the dreadnought I'm currently building and it works perfectly. Thanks! (but I'm not sure why my hand kept gravitating to the yellow and black inspection camera on the shelf.... I love yellow tools.... but the $350 price tag kept it firmly on the shelf. lol)

Glad you got one Rob. There didn't seem to be the big rush on them here in Ottawa. There were 18 in stock when I picked up mine just a little while ago. I haven't had time to try it out yet but I'm pretty sure it will be easier than mirrors and a flashlight.

I picked up one of these at local electronic clearing house and it works great. My plan is to make a modified base for it but have not got around to it. With the LED lights and manual focus I get real clear photos or live video on my shop laptop.
